Because I can't type for long without getting shoulder pain, my method of editing is really teaching creative writing. I teach the writer how to change his/her own novel. The involves masses of talking, pieces of paper all over the lounge floor and lots of discussions on point of view/plot structure/etc. I enjoy this kind of work enormously, but it is tiring on the voice. I think I'd have managed if the throat problem hadn't resurfaced though. (I know it's the old infection back for a day or two, I can feel the swelling.)
