Now I know what a migrane feels like

I had a great couple of days with [livejournal.com profile] the_magician walking round local beauty spots, filking and hitting the charity shops (there's more detail in his LJ).

About an hour after he'd gone, I developed a really bad headache. I'd had a mild one while we were going round the charity shops, but just attributed it to the fact that I'd forgotten to take my reading glasses and we were looking at a lot of books.

The headach got steadily worse until it was like nails being driven in and light made it massively worse. I felt really sick, and ended up vomiting into a bucket. There may have been times when I've felt worse, but they are precious few in number.

I've had a light-sensitive headache a few times in the last couple of months, but never this bad. This time, I swopped notes with my sister up north who I know gets migranes and when she confirmed the symptoms sounded likely, I double checked on the web. Migrane all right.

Stress can be a factor (so no surprises there) and also bright sunlight (though that doesn't normally give me any problems)

At least it sounds as though there's medication you can take when an attack starts, so it's off to the doctor tomorrow.

At least up here migraine medication is insanely expensive. The kind that Jenny takes costs about seven UK pounds per pill.

Boo, that does sound miserable. As if you needed more of that. :(
