Hat bands

I've been crafting in my spare time.

Making hat bands for morris hats is a nice way of having small projects for me to try out techniques.

Here's the crochet hat band (worn by me):

And the tablet woven hat band (modelled by my husband, Richard, who isn't actually a morris man, but really looks the part):

I may post more about tablet weaving. It's an interesting technique and needs very little in the way of equipment.  Namely: a pack of playing cards, scissors, a ruler and a hole punch, plus yarn.  A strong belt, a shuttle  and a small clamp are handy, but not essential.

Ooh, lovely hat bands! I would be interested in hearing about tablet weaving if you have the effort to write about it.

Yay!

Oh yes the tablet weaving makes a great hatband.

What yarn did you use for the crochet? The darker blue one almost looks fuzzy.

(Oh my, you're both going grey.)

Crochet I know about, but I'd be very interested in the tablet weaving. The result looks wonderful. [uses only craft icon]

And yes, Richard looks very like a morris man.

Oh these bands are GORGEOUS!!! Suddenly there is not a common hat but a special one!!!AND! You and Richard look gorgeous too!!!
My crafting has always been non existent in spite of a hectic and combined effort of my mum and granny...My granny finally declared me lacking the "sitzfleisch" - meaning I am not able to sit and do it.:-)

I like both hat bands very much. I think, you look like queen Elizabeth II (several decades ago, of course) in yours.

And yes, I'd like to know how to weave the pattern, you used for the second hat.
