Hat bands
I've been crafting in my spare time.
Making hat bands for morris hats is a nice way of having small projects for me to try out techniques.
Here's the crochet hat band (worn by me):

And the tablet woven hat band (modelled by my husband, Richard, who isn't actually a morris man, but really looks the part):

I may post more about tablet weaving. It's an interesting technique and needs very little in the way of equipment. Namely: a pack of playing cards, scissors, a ruler and a hole punch, plus yarn. A strong belt, a shuttle and a small clamp are handy, but not essential.

I really love the results it produces and some of the designs are really easy to do (the next project isn't, but the one in the photo was surprisingly simple)

Oh yes the tablet weaving makes a great hatband.
What yarn did you use for the crochet? The darker blue one almost looks fuzzy.
(Oh my, you're both going grey.)

I'm getting very fond of Ravelry. I didn't see much point in it originally, but I'm finding that there are advantages to recording all my yarn and projects.

I've used Ravelry mainly for finding patterns. Recently I joined the Knooking forum. I found that very useful! And that prompted me to add pictures of my projects. I haven't wanted to go to the huge effort of recording my stash there, especially since I've already gone to the huge effort of recording it in my own database at home. Don't want to have to do it all again!
Mind you, the irony of me using Ravelry as the first place I look for patterns... is that I prefer not to use patterns! But if I'm wanting to do some particular project, I like to find multiple patterns for the whatever-it-is, in order to get ideas about how people go about making whatever-it-is, for reference, even if I'm not going to follow the actual patterns exactly. I tend to download the patterns and save them on my disk for later.

And yes, Richard looks very like a morris man.

My crafting has always been non existent in spite of a hectic and combined effort of my mum and granny...My granny finally declared me lacking the "sitzfleisch" - meaning I am not able to sit and do it.:-)

I like it, partly because I find it relaxing to do. I can knit/sew/weave and chat at the same time.

And yes, I'd like to know how to weave the pattern, you used for the second hat.
