One 'advantage' of being ill is the chance to crash out in front of old movies.

I had forgotten just how good 'The Sound of Music' is. There's a reason why it became a classic.

Loads of fab songs, great acting, three hankies, and beautiful scenary.

I think one of the many reasons it works is the Baroness. It could have been so easy to make her a villainess, but instead she comes over as quite likeable, and her relationship with Georg is one that they both get something out of. Sadly for her, he just isn't in love with her.

Five stars.

I've just been listening to Desert Island Discs. I'd never previously heard of Lord Joffe (he was involved in Nelson Mandela's trial) but his tastes in music turn out to overlap with mine a lot.

One of his songs was from 'My Fair Lady', which I've always enjoyed. His choice, however, was from the original stage version with Julie Andrews, rather than the movie version that I'm familiar with.

Wow!

It was a fantastic performance. I think I need to hear her sing the rest of the show!

I watched Carousel last night, but apart from some really good musical numbers (including the above), I was seriously underwhelmed by the movie.
